Valentine's Heart
I made this shabby chic Valentine's Day heart while working on the curtain tape rossettes. There is a utube video demonstrating how I made the lovely rossette and it is very versatile and decorative. If you have some leftover curtain tape, give this rossette a try. I am happy with the heart too and I like the idea that it has some French script stamped on it resembling a love letter perhaps? As I will probably not be able to post on Valentine's day, I am taking this opportunity to wish you all Happy Valentine's Day.

Tropical Travelogue Mini
I would like to share my take on the G45 Tropical Travelogue designer papers. I made this paper bag mini album from the collection and am quite pleased with it. The collection awakes a sense of nostalgia lingering after a wonderful holiday trip abroad. It is a great collection to work with and the colours are brilliant.
An Inspirational Story
Do check this out as it is really an uplifting story.

New Year's Keyword Collage
Hello Everyone,
I hope you have all had a great time urshering in the new year. I celebrated the day with my family and we wined and dined at home. My husband prepared a brilliant 5 star meal and it was absolutely delicious. We had a beautiful fireworks display outside the house to finish off the wonderful evening.
I had earlier read Ali Edward's blog on choosing a keyword for the New Year and focusing on it. After much thought I decided to choose the word PERSEVERE. The word just grew on me and I decided to make a collage around it.
Method:
I primed a 15cm x 15cm canvas board with Gesso from Claudine Helmut. I than painted the canvas with Tim Holtz's dabbers in a white tone i.e. picket fence. I then spritzed Biscoti mists and distressed the canvas. Left it to dry and then started embellishing the canvas board. I had made the dressform in plaster a while ago. I wanted to use it for a display during Christmas but the idea never took off.
I decided to make it a central feature in this collage. I worked round the dressform and added some of my favourite embellishments. I looked at what was important to me and wanted included in this collage.
I included some Tim Holtz embellishments, Prima flowers and some findings I have been hoarding. For example the sand in the vial comes from my father's ancestral house which I visited while on holiday. I had also added some pebbles and shells which the children had picked from the beach. I have crocheted the flower sitting on the plastered butterfly. There are also some fragments from a glass chandelier which I accidently knocked over.
I have included some close-up photos which will provide more detail to the artpiece. I am really pleased with the outcome of the collage. I like the shabby chic style and the muted colours as well as the subtle message which will no doubt be a gentle reminder for me. The message is to persevere in whatever trials and tribulations 2012 may bring. I woke up this morning to a most spectacular sunrise that I have ever seen and I would like to share the moment with you. Happy New Year!
